23 May 2008 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced the launch of the EZ Connect Vision™ Wireless Day/Night IP Camera (SMCWIPCFN-G) bringing cost-effective surveillance to the home. The CMOS-based IP camera streams and records in MPEG-4 format (up to 30fps in VGA) in conjunction with ADCPM compression to provide clear video with sound.
IP network camera systems are more flexible and cost-effective than traditional video systems, making them ideal for home usage. Video and audio can be archived to a PC or to any Network Attached Storage (NAS) device on the home network– without the need for any dedicated software. Users can also monitor the video streams over the Internet and remotely manage the IP camera.
The easy to install SMCWIPCFN-G provides multifunction surveillance via wired or IEEE 802.11g wireless connection to any PC and integrates seamlessly into the existing home network. In a wireless network, all data can be WEP/WPA encrypted to prevent unauthorized access to the wireless network and to guarantee that all data is secure. As many property intrusions happen at night, the SMCWIPCFN-G uses infrared (IR) LED sensors to allow recording video in a low-light environment, whilst sound is captured by the camera's built-in microphone. Alarms can be set to be triggered by movement and notified via email. The camera ships with a fully featured IP camera management software for Windows to monitor and manage up to 32 channels. For complete flexibility, each SMCWIPCFN-G camera is provided with a wall-mounting kit.
