More and more small businesses are becoming increasingly more dependent on fast and reliable access to their data fi les. For many, temporary loss or slow access to stored data can seriously disrupt their performance. Even worse would be the complete loss of data as this could paralyse all business activity indefinitely.

Correspondingly, in many homes, with the growing popularity of digital music, videos and photography, the need for a fast and reliable way to share multimedia files without having to duplicate everything on everyone's PC or laptop, is becoming an increasingly important factor in setting up a home network.

The easiest way to solve these problems is to use a Network Attached Storage (or NAS) server. A NAS Storage Server connects directly to the local area network (LAN) allowing everyone with network access to read and write to it. It doesn't need to be connected to a local PC to handle read and write requests; as this processing is performed on the clients PC or laptop. Basically it is easy to install and expand without the need for IT expertise to look after it.
